Podcast Highlight: The Glorious in the Mundane with Christy Nockels

I’ve been MIA for a moment on the blog, I know, but…I come back bearing gifts! Allow me to explain the former, and I’ll come back to that bit on the gifts.

a season of deep wells…

This season of my life has proven to be, how do I say this, complex??? I’m finding myself in a deep well of transition in my heart and it’s causing me to be a bit of a recluse. I often struggle with the idea of having a blog, simply because, when I’m going through something or I have a thought to share, I pretty much rather just run around it in my head instead of writing about it…because sometimes it all seems way too “unshareable“. Not that it’s sacred or that I’m afraid of what people think or anything. It’s just…unpresentable. Most of it doesn’t make sense in easy to communicate ways. So I fall back on my old habits of keeping it to myself. It virtually never occurs to me to write it out! I make, as I’m beginning to realize, a terrible blogger! I’m working on it, I guess. Feel free to laugh at me just as much as I do!

a season of inspiration…

Anyway, as I unwrap the weird contents of my soul slowly, my most helpful ally has been the power of art. I’m creating now more than ever. And because I’m a pure lunatic, I’m indulging in purely self-taught mediums of art. I told you all about how I took a macrame workshop and since then, I’ve decided that starting a business from it would be the ultimate form of glorious distraction from day to day life. It’s been so, so fun…seriously. Shameless plug for my Etsy shop, Beautiful Threads Co, but hey, it’s my blog. Not sorry! Not only that, but I’ve been working on the art of hand-lettering and watercolor for months…and most recently have decided to teach myself how to illustrate as well. Top it all off with a beautiful sprinkle of my new passion, tapestry weaving, and you’ve got a full blown fool. But…I am happy fool.

a season of simple gifts…

And now, for the gifts. I explained in my last post how utterly excited I am to fall in love with podcasts. I’m probably the last human, I know. Well, I found a new one! And obviously, there’s no surprise in it (because it’s in the darn title of this blog), but allow a ceremonious drumroll to play in your head while I introduce my most recent form of life-altering therapy…….The Glorious in the Mundane podcast! Podcast highlights are quickly becoming one of my favorite things, honestly, because I just love sharing the amazing things I find with you. New blog concept, maybe? Ok, seriously, Christy Nockels is my new favorite human and I do not say this next part lightly, this podcast is a sweet heaven on earth for me. It is so kingdom that I am using “kingdom” as slang right now. Embarrassing, Sarah…stawp.

podcast praise…

The single most greatest thing that I could possibly muster up about this podcast is how utterly calm and peaceful I feel listening to it, and how that feeling lingers for long after I’ve finished an episode. I think you can guess by the sometimes erratic way I write, peace in my heart is hard to come by…and very much cherished. Christy Nockels and her team are anointed with a remarkable gift — storytelling. The lyrical way that each episode is written is soothing, meditative, and impossible to turn away from. From time to time, I’ll have an episode on in the background while I’m doing something, and without even paying attention…I feel better. The basis of the podcast itself is truly as simple as it sounds — it’s all about finding the glorious stuff within the mundane stuff…the heaven on earth in everything. So beautiful. And so needed in my heart. Just about any random topic is covered with such grace, unpacking the sweet moments of everyday life with incredible beauty and unique perspective. It’s truly a one-of-a-kind podcast you need in your life.

And because I don’t think I should say any more, I will just stop there and let you discover it all for yourself. It’s a pleasure to lift up wonderful women of Christ, like Christy, because I think we are truly meant to share these special things we find with each other. I fully believe that someone who reads this will find as much comfort and joy in this podcast as I have recently. It might even be you.
