The Best Madrid Cafes For Amazing Coffee

What’s the first thing you do once you pick a destination to travel to? Book a hostel? Research the sites? Well, the very first thing I do, is find where the BEST coffee is at. I can guarantee you, if good coffee exists, I will find it. I used to live in Madrid, before specialty coffee was a thing yet. So, in planning my recent trip to Madrid, I did a major search for the best cafés, hoping and praying that the coffee scene had made it to my city. Guess what? It finally did! So… I put in the leg work and used my (super short) visit to locate the most amazing places for a caffeine fix. Spoiler alert: they’re mostly in Malasaña. Enjoy!

Toma Café

Neighborhood: Malasaña

What drew me to Toma was their slogan, “Warriors Love Coffee”. Heck yes, we do! This is a great local spot in the heart of the trendiest neighborhood for coffee, breakfast and pastries. It’s very small, and usually packed. Try the cortado or the cold brew and don’t forget to pick up some delicious whole-bean coffee and a Warriors Love Coffee tote bag.

The Federal Cafe

As soon as I heard that Federal Cafe served brunch and australian style toast, I was in. Prepare yourself for a superb latte with fresh almond milk (made in house) and a delicious bite to eat…or three. I couldn’t help but visit twice.

La Bicicleta Café

Neighborhood: Malasaña

This café has it all. It’s an gallery, meets bar, meets restaurant, meets top-notch workplace. They know how to made a real macchiato and have killer wifi, perfect for joining the laptop club. The bar means they’re open much later than a traditional coffee shop and the service is awesome.

Serving beans roasted by Right Side Coffee Roasters, you’re in for a treat if you visit HanSo. A Japanese style café, they make a fantastic Matcha latte and the decor inside is super cute. You won’t regret stopping by.
